The million dollar question… How do I know if I am correctly weighted?
The correct weighting is the one that on the surface with the equipment on, with the jacket completely deflated and with normal breathing we float at eye level.
And to refine the ballast calculation even more, do some tests at the end of your dives (+/- 30 bars of tank pressure). If with all your equipment on, at 5 metres depth and with an empty BCD, you can easily maintain neutral buoyancy, you’ve hit the nail on the head! If, on the other hand, you ascend or descend unintentionally, you will need to increase or decrease the weighting.
