Did you know that …

There is a species of jellyfish that is not poisonous?

It is known as the «fried egg» jellyfish, but its scientific name is Cotylorhiza tuberculata.

It lives in the Mediterranean, so it can be found in Ibiza. It feeds on plankton, small fish and other species of jellyfish. They capture all their prey using the same technique: they inject the toxins present in their cnidocytes, which allows them to catch them more easily as they remain immobile.
Although it should be noted that many other types of fish are immune to their venom, so they use the tentacles of this jellyfish to go unnoticed by potential predators or to take advantage of what the jellyfish themselves have previously hunted.
